Two’s Finally Get a Taste of Success

Bangor 2’s finally achieved their first win of the season in a very close game at The Mall, Armagh on 27th July.
The home team elected to bat on a scratchy, unpredictable pitch. Several
steady partnerships built around the captain (McCall 67*) saw Armagh
reach a worthy 165-5 off their 30 overs. Notable bowling came from
allrounders B Escott (2-10) and A Pyper (3-19), including some good
catches by the skipper.
Bangor’s reply began slowly with early wickets falling. Man of the
Match, King, however, pummelled the hosts attack for an aggressive 70
before falling at 136 after 23 overs. Cox (27) provided the only
meaningful partnership (47) in the chase. When Cox departed on 136 there
was still 27 required off 7 overs. However, in very tense tailend
partnerships Moazzin, Aiken and Cumper calmly edged towards the target.
Requiring 2 to win off the last ball 5 wides saw the visitors home for a
deserved victory.
